“Proverbs tells us that we are to ponder the pathway that our feet are taking. Proverbs 4:26 says, “Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.” Amen.

In other words, we are to stop along the way and take a good, long look at the direction our feet are walking and the pathway we are taking. Is that pathway walking with the Lord? Or is it taking us into rough and rugged places of life that are going to cause us to stumble, fall, and get all beat up along the journey?

Is it a pathway where you are growing in Christ, or are you moving backward? Are you backsliding along the pathway you have chosen? And have you stopped to ask yourself where along the pathway you let go of the Lord and His hand that was guiding you and leading you?

Because here is the thing every single day, we are given choices. We can choose well and choose the way of the Lord, or we can choose to live the life that we think is good or even the life we know is wrong. Amen.

We don’t have to stay on the straight and narrow pathway of life. We can go whichever way we choose because God has given us free will. He makes us do nothing. He is not our taskmaster; He is our Heavenly Father. And He wants us to want to be with Him. He wants us to willingly journey through this life with Him, allowing Him to guide our steps.

But if we decide that we are going to go a different way, I ask us all this Have you stopped along the way to ponder your pathway? Have you stopped to see just what may be missing from your life? Have you stopped to consider what the enemy may have stolen from you along the way?

Because the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 tells us that sin does not lead us to the abundant life God desires for us. There may be pleasure for a moment, but that pleasure fades. The glamour and glitter eventually disappear. And little by little, you can begin to lose the person you fought so hard and battled so hard to become in Christ.

You begin compromising.

You begin talking and acting in ways you did before Christ.

You begin letting go of convictions that were once so strong within you.

You begin releasing your grip on the truth and the freedom that once stood at the very top of your list of priorities.

And before you know it, you may find yourself standing somewhere you never intended to be.

So, if by chance you recognize the pathway you are on, and God has given you insight into what your life is becoming and it is not a place you want to be then by all means, stop walking that pathway.

Stop.

Pray.

Turn your heart back toward the Lord.

Ask Him first to forgive you. Amen.

Then ask Him to teach you His ways and lead you in a plain pathway.

Psalm 27:11 says, “Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path.”

Ask Him to show you the path of life.

Psalm 16:11 says, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life.”

Because the path of the just is a shining light that shines more and more unto the perfect day.

Proverbs 4:18 tells us, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” Amen!

For God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our pathway.

Psalm 119:105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

And as we delight ourselves in the Lord, trust Him, and acknowledge Him in all our ways, His Word promises that He will direct our paths.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5–6

So let us never get to the place where we think we can go our own way, do our own thing, and somehow still arrive at the place where we need to be.

Only with the Lord can we truly get where we need to go.

So, how is your life?

How are you doing in serving the Lord?

How have you been with church?

Are you saying things that shouldn’t be coming out of your mouth?

Are you speaking in ways that sound like the voice of the old person you used to be before Christ?

How is your attitude about life?

How are your relationships?

How are you doing in your walk with the Lord?

Do you still get excited about the things that once excited you when it came to the Lord?

Are you using the gifts and talents that God has blessed you with?

Are you still singing in the church house?

Are you still attending those Bible fellowship classes?

Are you still witnessing?

Are you still reaching out to pray for someone and encourage them?

You see, these are the hard questions that each of us should be willing to ask ourselves.

And as we do, I pray that we will be honest with ourselves and make sure that we are not falling away from the truth or drifting away from the Gospel of Christ. Amen.

For the Gospel is not simply something we believe it is the very life we live.

Jesus is our life.

He is the way, the truth, and the life.

So I pray that our pathways are moving heavenward. That we are moving right along that straight and narrow pathway with Jesus Christ our Lord. That He is with us in every area of our lives.

That He is invited into every setting where we sit.

He is invited into every conversation we have.

He is invited into every decision we make.

He is invited into every relationship we have.

And that we are not ashamed or guilty of the life we are living because we are living it well. We are living it according to His Word. We are walking in the freedom He has given us.

We are free, and we are free indeed!

Amen.

No condemnation.

No guilt.

No fear.

But wholeness, completeness, peace, and a life that is thriving in Christ.

May we be happy, filled, and thriving children of God, with pathways that are shining brighter and brighter every day that we are here in this old world in which we live.

May we daily choose the Lord above it all.

May He have first place.

May He be the Head.

May He be Lord over everything and anything that concerns you and me.

Amen.

Let us stay on the good pathway of life.

Let us not get off track.

Let us stay the course.

Let us keep the faith.

Let us run the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Hebrews 12:2 reminds us that Jesus, “for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

And today, He is still interceding for us.

Amen.

This life can be such a beautiful one when we stay in the plan and purpose God has for us.

For He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

What a wonderful pathway of life God has in store for us!

A life filled with purpose.

A life filled with opportunities to love.

A life filled with opportunities to serve.

A life filled with blessings, goodness, growth, and the presence of God.

And His Word tells us that blessings shall come upon us and overtake us when we hearken unto the voice of the Lord our God.

Amen.

So today, ponder your pathway.

Stop along the way.

Look at where your feet are taking you.

Ask the Lord to search your heart.

Ask Him to redirect your steps wherever they have wandered.

And then keep walking.

Keep trusting.

Keep praying.

Keep believing.

Keep the faith.

Stay the course.

Stay on the pathway.

And above all else, keep your eyes on Jesus.

For He is the Way.

He is the Truth.

He is the Life.

And when we walk with Him, we never have to walk this pathway alone. Amen!”
