“As we all know, there are many scriptures that speak to us about the power of our words. They are tremendously and incredibly powerful. Our words can construct realities, shape our self-perception, and deeply influence others. They can heal, inspire, or inflict deep wounds and cause significant emotional harm.
To name a few, the Bible says:
“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” — Proverbs 16:24
“The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.” — Ecclesiastes 10:12
“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” — Ephesians 4:29
“A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” — Proverbs 15:1
And lastly, but certainly not least:
“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.” — Proverbs 15:4. Amen.
There is a saying that goes, “The words we choose today build the reality of our tomorrows.” Amen. Consistently speaking negative will, sooner or later, begin to manifest itself in our reality. Likewise, speaking positive, affirming words can help rewire our thought patterns and build our confidence.
We can bless or curse with our tongues, and the Bible says these things ought not to be (James 3:10). Amen. Our words shape our relationships with others for either good or bad but they also shape our relationship with ourselves.
I saw the post above today, and it got me thinking about myself and how, at times, I can be a little mean to me. Amen. In that moment, I said not only to myself but also to the Lord, “I’m sorry for all the mean things I’ve said.”
Loving and encouraging others has always come easily for me. I can quickly motivate people to feel better and help them have confidence in their beauty, gifts, and talents. But, as I shared only four days ago on my birthday, my wish this year was that I would stop being so hard on myself in the way I see myself and the way I speak to myself.
Instead, I want to learn to be content in my own skin every ounce of it: the wrinkles, the sagging, the dimples, and the extra weight that comes along with getting older. Amen.
I want to learn to give myself the same grace I so freely give to others. I want to accept my life for what it is, not striving for anything more than what I already have. I want to celebrate my victories when they come, acknowledge the good that I do instead of only focusing on the mistakes I sometimes make, and learn to live freely in each moment while keeping my mind aligned with God’s Word and what He speaks over me as His daughter. Amen.
Because to belittle yourself, to not be kind to yourself, and to constantly struggle against yourself keeps you in bondage. It becomes a daily battle, and that should never be. Amen.
God has us exactly the way we are. Amen. We are perfect in His eyes. My prayer is that, if like me you sometimes struggle to be good to yourself, that we would stop giving the enemy access through the way we view ourselves and the lives we are living. Amen.
For we are more than our past, our present, or even our future. We are sons and daughters of the Most High God, and we have been bought with a great price. Therefore, we are told to glorify God in our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:20). Amen.
So let us cast down every imagination and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Amen.
Let us speak well, live well, sow well, reap well, and manifest well by the power of the words we choose to speak over our lives. For “death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21).
So let us all choose to eat really well in these blessed, beautiful lives we have been given to live. Amen.
May we continually feed our hearts, minds, spirits, and bodies with good words, life-giving words, and God-honoring words. Amen!”
“For it is in His name, Jesus’ name, that I do ask and pray..Amen & Amen..Be blessed today my dear sweet friends and remember wherever you go and whatever you do, Be a light for our Father, Much love to you all, Mandi ❤️
