“The cycle of sin is one that, at times, can seem as though it is there to stay forever in your life. It can feel as if you are in a constant struggle a struggle between good and evil. The Scriptures tell us that whatever we yield ourselves to is what we become servants to. Amen. Romans 6:16.

I don’t always understand why we have to struggle with sin in this life. Maybe it is God’s way of keeping us close to Him and causing us to continually desire Him. But I think one of the beautiful things is that we know when we sin. Amen. We know when we are living outside the will of God. We know when we are doing and saying things that we have no business doing or saying. And yet, somehow, we still allow that sinful nature within us to take over, and we obey it.

That is actually pretty scary when you think about it. After becoming a child of God and knowing just how evil sin and this world can be, we can sometimes become comfortable and not be fearful enough to choose what is right and live according to God’s will. Instead, we allow that old sinful nature the old man who should be dead and gone to take control. Amen.

For the Word of God says, “God forbid” that we should continue in sin simply because we know we will be forgiven. Romans 6:1-2. Amen. The Bible tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom in our lives. Proverbs 9:10. It also tells us that the fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, causing us to turn away from the snares of death. Proverbs 14:27. Hallelujah!

The Lord promises us that if He makes us free, then we are free indeed. John 8:36. Because here is the thing: sin should not have dominion over us, because we are not under the law but under grace. Romans 6:14. And if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. Amen.

Sin can begin as a thought that eventually becomes an action in our lives, causing us to go against the moral standards God has given us. It can bring so much shame and guilt. Sin can become a cycle in our lives, but with God’s help, we can break that bondage and truly walk in freedom instead of battling the same sin day after day.

Sometimes it feels as though that same sin keeps sneaking its ugly head back into our lives. But the Bible teaches us that there are battles that require prayer and fasting. Matthew 17:21. Amen.

Sin should not be our master in life. Sin should be dead and gone from our hearts, minds, and lives. We should walk in freedom truly free through Christ. Amen.

For some of us, breaking the cycle may mean that we have to change our atmosphere. We may need to change our friendships, change the places we go, and change the things we allow into our lives. We may have to begin walking down a new pathway in order to break free from bondage, shame, and the things that have kept us trapped.

We must yield ourselves to our Father King Jesus, and allow Him and Him alone to be the ruler and Master over our lives, our choices, and our decisions. He should be the head over everything we do.

And if He is not in His rightful place in our lives, then we must truly get serious about placing Him there. We must surrender, turn away from the things that are holding us captive, and break the cycle of sin. We must rise up and become the mighty men and women of God He has called us to be, truly living the life He desires for us and using the gifts and talents He has placed within us. Amen.

You see, the enemy fights those who are a threat to his purposes. He knows that his days are numbered, and he works overtime trying to keep us bound by messes, temptations, habits, and sins that should have been left far, far behind us.

But the Lord has already cast our sins away from us. His Word says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12. Amen.

So I pray the prayer found in the book of Psalms, crying out to the Lord and asking Him to keep us from sins and to keep them from having dominion over us. Psalm 19:13. Amen.

I pray for strength for all of us. I pray that each day we will choose the Lord and keep choosing Him. I pray that we will continue placing Him at the head of it all and keep Him there.

Because it is all about Him and His glory. It is all about Jesus.

There is no true life apart from Christ. There are only imitations of what the world calls life, but God is the One who gives us a truly blessed and fulfilling life. Amen. And it is when we live for Him and choose Him daily that we begin to experience the life He desires for us.

So let us break the cycle of sin in our lives.

If you are stuck in a cycle of sin today, I pray for you. And I ask you to pray for me. Let us choose the Lord together. Let us ask Him to help us make it through. Let us ask Him to renew our minds, strengthen our hearts, heal us, deliver us, and set us free from the mess the enemy keeps trying to place upon us.

Let us surrender it all to Jesus.

Let us walk in freedom.

Let us choose Christ daily.

And let us break the cycle of sin once and for all, through the power and grace of God. Amen and Hallelujah!”
