“They say that there are seven things that truly happen when you encounter Jesus in your life. Amen.

The encounter that you have with Him is personal, but it will also be so evident in your life that others will be able to recognize that you have truly encountered the Lord. Amen. There will be something different about you something that cannot be denied.

And those seven things are this:

1. He guides you along a straight pathway. — Psalm 32:8

When we encounter the Lord, He begins to guide us along a straight pathway. We are no longer walking those crooked pathways of life, trying to find our own way. He directs our steps, teaches us which way to go, and leads us according to His will.

2. The Lord begins healing your broken heart. — Matthew 11:28

When you encounter the Lord, He begins healing those inner parts of you those secret places of hurt, shame, pain, and brokenness. The places that no one else can see are the very places He begins to mend and restore.

He calls us to come to Him when we are weary and burdened, and He gives us rest. Amen.

3. It changes not only you, but your family and those closest to you. — Joshua 24:15

A true encounter with the Lord doesn’t stop with us. It begins to affect our families and the people closest to us.

Our family is part of our legacy. Amen. When we choose to serve the Lord, when we allow Him to change us, and when we make the decision that our household will serve Him, that decision can impact generations to come.

4. He makes us great ambassadors for Him. — Romans 10:14–17

In other words, you have what others need, and they need what you have. Amen.

What we have is Christ and Him crucified. We carry the Good News of Jesus Christ wherever we go.

How good and pleasant it is when God’s children dwell together in unity! How beautiful are those who bring peace and good tidings with them, representing the Lord well wherever they go.

When we have truly encountered Jesus, our lives should point others toward Him.

5. He strengthens and empowers us so that we can walk in victory over sin. — 2 Corinthians 5:18–21; Malachi 3:2–3

Sin no longer has to control us. We don’t have to remain bound by the things that once held us captive. Through the Lord and who He is in us and through us, we can walk in victory.

He strengthens us. He empowers us. He refines us. He cleanses us.

Amen.

6. It ushers us into building God’s Kingdom. — Philippians 4:17–19

When we truly encounter the Lord, we want to share the Good News. We want others to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to know all that He is to us.

Our hearts begin to yearn for the lost, the weak, the hurting, and the bound. We desire to see them set free and free indeed! Amen.

We don’t want to keep what God has done for us to ourselves. We want others to experience the same freedom, healing, restoration, and salvation that we have found in Christ.

7. We develop a deeper hunger and thirst for the presence of the Lord. — Psalm 63:1–8

When we truly encounter the Lord and experience His presence, our hearts begin to ache for more of Him.

We want Him in every area and every part of our lives. When we come to know that God is alive and well, that He isn’t simply a story written in a book but that He is closer than the air we breathe, we begin to desire Him daily every hour, upon the hour.

We desire to know Him more. We desire to experience Him on deeper levels than we ever have before.

Because He is Lord. He is the King of Kings. He is our Deliverer. He is our Healer. He is everything we need, and there isn’t anything He cannot do.

Amen.

So I would ask us all this: Maybe our hearts need to be readjusted in our thinking.

Instead of always praying for what we need, always seeking the wants and desires of our hearts, and becoming so self-absorbed in our own worlds and circumstances, maybe we should begin asking the Lord for something greater.

Maybe we should ask Him to come and bring such an encounter into our lives that we are tremendously changed that we cannot remain the same because we have met with the Lord once again.

Because when we are in His presence, everything changes.

We change.

We grow.

We love more fiercely.

We gain knowledge and wisdom.

His love begins to pour out from us everywhere our feet go. It becomes so evident and so noticeable that others cannot deny that the Lord is with us and within us.

They’ll look at us and say, “There is just something different about you.”

Amen.

And you see, when we get to that place when our fragrance becomes pure and pleasing, when our lips speak words that are wholesome and edifying, when we no longer look and act like the world then we know that our encounter with the Lord has truly changed us.

Deeply changed us.

The back-and-forth, the wishy-washy attitude, the “I don’t care” attitude, the “What about me?” attitude it all begins to fade away.

And we change.

Hallelujah!

Isn’t that what we’re supposed to be doing? Aren’t we supposed to be changing more and more into our Father’s image?

Amen.

We’re not supposed to remain the same.

And if we are still exactly the same as we were before, then something isn’t quite right.

So I ask of us all that we grow up in the Lord.

I ask us to pray and ask the Lord to come to us in a mighty way and bring such an encounter that it becomes evident that we have been in the presence of the Lord.

When we are there with Him, He begins stripping away all the excess, all the mess, and all the things the old evil one tries to place upon us.

And it all falls by the wayside.

It has no place in us or around us.

Our lives become pure, clean, and holy. We become acceptable and pleasing to our Father. We begin changing. We begin living a life for Him and Him alone.

And we do this when we truly experience the Lord when we have such an encounter with Him that nothing and no one can change our hearts toward Him.

We develop a holy fear of the Lord because we know that we know that He is there. We know that He chose to come to us. Amen.

So I pray for us all to have an encounter with the Lord.

Not merely an encounter with a person.

Not merely an emotional experience.

But a true encounter with the Lord and His Spirit an encounter where He comes and changes us, His children, in great and mighty ways.

An encounter that transforms our hearts.

An encounter that changes the way we live.

An encounter that causes others to see Christ in us.

An encounter that draws us closer to Him and makes us hunger and thirst for more of His presence.

May we become more like Him, walk in His ways, love as He loves, serve as He served, and live for Him and His Kingdom.

Lord, come and encounter Your people. Change us. Refine us. Heal us. Strengthen us. Empower us. Draw us closer to You. Strip away everything that does not belong, and make us more like You. Let our lives be living testimonies that we have truly been in Your presence. Amen!”
