“For the most part, everyone is always considering what the will of the Lord is for them and for their lives. They try so hard to figure out what way to go, what direction to take, what to do, what not to do, and so on. For some, they’ll never really do much except wait on God for some big, grand gesture that will lead them and show them what He alone desires from them His perfect will, if you will. Amen.

But when I think about God’s will for each of us, I believe it is simply to love Him first and foremost, but also to obey Him and listen in obedience to His voice when He speaks to us. Amen. And I’m not talking about hearing God’s voice audibly, as though you hear Him speaking out loud. I’m talking about that voice you hear within your mind and spirit the understanding of what He is asking of you, day by day. Amen.

It is in that part of being obedient and listening to Him that we are doing the will of God. There are many Scriptures in the Word of God where the Lord commands us to obey His voice: Jeremiah 7:23, Exodus 19:5, and 1 Samuel 15:22. And in Joshua, He tells us that we are to serve the Lord and obey His voice: Joshua 24:24. Amen.

For in doing so, we grow. We step over into becoming God’s hands and feet here in this world, as well as right behind the four walls of our own homes. When we do what God asks of us, we grow spiritually and mature like nothing else can cause us to. And in the act of obeying, God knows that He can trust us that we are willing and obedient. As the Word says, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land” (Isaiah 1:19–20). Amen.

So start today by doing the thing the small thing, the big thing, or whatever the thing may be and see how your life begins to change beautifully. God is looking for us to simply hear, obey, and follow through with obedience. That is how we build a wonderful relationship with our Father.

For He says, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27).

So above every other voice we hear, I pray that we hear God’s voice, and as He speaks, we obey Him because we love Him, because we trust Him, and because we know that whatever God is asking of us is ultimately for our good and our benefit.

For obedience is better than sacrifice.

So again, I’ll ask the question: Are you listening?

Only you can answer that for yourself. Amen. And only you can hear what God is asking of you.

So I pray that we all hear and obey, and that we all do whatever it may be that God is desiring from us. For once again, everything we do matters and it truly matters greatly. Amen!”
