“I think so many of us say a lot of things in our lives without ever really stopping to hear and understand exactly what it is that we’re saying. Amen.

For the most part, we go around saying, ‘Well, if you’re not in a battle, then something is wrong in your life.’ I’ve been thinking about this concept, and I find myself asking, ‘Lord, why in the world do we say this so often? Why do we give people the misconception that life is nothing but hardship and that You, Father, place us in a continual battle?’

Because, Lord, You are a very good God. You alone are incredible, and You came to give us life, and life more abundantly (John 10:10). Amen.

So why do we, as Your children, feel this way? Why, Lord, do we feel the need to say such things? Because, honestly, it isn’t true. Amen.

If we continually say these things without thinking about what we’re saying, then others may not want to come to You or serve You wholeheartedly. They may become fearful of You not in a healthy, reverent way, but in an unhealthy way that causes them to be afraid of You.

Again, Lord, I think about this, and I remind myself that when You died on the cross at Calvary for us, Your Word declared, ‘It is finished’ (John 19:28–30). Amen. Your living Word is active and alive (Hebrews 4:12–13).

So today, I know that life is ours to live, and many of the choices and decisions we make determine how we live it. Yes, Lord, we live in a fallen world, but You came to save and rescue us. Once again, You alone are good and always have been. Therefore, we need not fear especially not fear You in a way that would leave anyone afraid to live for You or serve You. For You are everything we will ever need. Amen.

Our fruit in life should continue to ripen, and we should be growing in every area of our lives to become more like You (Galatians 5:22–23). Amen.

Most of the time, when hardships come as they will we sometimes bring them upon ourselves. Sometimes we choose disobedience. Sometimes we choose to do what we want instead of what You desire. That doesn’t mean You are placing us in a continual test of life. Rather, it is because You love us so much that You want us to grow and mature in You. Amen.

You want us to stand firm and remain steadfast in the freedom You have given us (Galatians 5:1). You want us to shine Your light in this world (2 Corinthians 4:6), to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to place You above all else (Matthew 22:37; Mark 12:30–31; Luke 10:27).

For I know that apart from You, we can do nothing (John 15:5). But when we place You at the center of everything, then all is well and will always be well.

Once again, to tell others that if they’re not in a battle, then something is wrong with them is simply not right. We should not say such things to anyone. Amen.

No one wants to be around someone who constantly keeps them stirred up or weighed down in life. We usually withdraw or hide from people like that. Lord, I never want anyone to hide from You or shield themselves from You. Instead, I want the words I speak and the way I live my life to draw people to know You, to serve You, and above all else, to love You.

So let us all ask ourselves: Are the things we’re saying drawing others closer to the Lord, or are they pushing them away?

My heart’s desire is that everything we say and do draws people to the Lord rather than away from Him. More than anything, I want everyone to run to the Lord, to know Him, and to discover that He is their safe place. Amen. He is their hiding place and their refuge (Psalm 32:7). Amen.

So let us shine light into the darkness. Let us speak life over ourselves and over others. Let us continually proclaim the Lord’s goodness, tell of His mighty works, and faithfully share the gospel everywhere and anywhere He leads us.” Amen!”
