So for a whole lot of people when thinking of addiction their minds immediately goes to drinking, smoking and of course it automatically goes straight to drugs..and those things are addictions they are very addictive substances and if any of us have done these things we know all to well that there very much dependent for us if we do these things or have ever done these things..me I know all to well about all three because I have done them and I know that they are addictive and very much so to say the least..but with God’s help they can be overcome in our lives..for they have been in mine..Praise the Lord…but for most of us when we consider addiction we never think about the other things in life that can become addictions as well..could be addictions to makeup..or perfume..or skin care products..could be addictions to exercising..to eating out..to having way to much sweets..or even to much soda..coffee or tea..could be even having an addiction to gossiping..murmuring..lying..telling half truths..who knows but when it comes to an addiction it can be anything that were addicted too..for the definition of addiction says it can be a substance, a thing..or even an activity..so when we go to judge another by the principle of their life and what their addicted to in their lives..I pray we look at ourselves..and see if there is something in our lives that we need to be working on that maybe were addicted too..for all to well we can see others and what there going through or should I say their sins so to speak..Matthew 7:3-5..that we fail somehow to see our own..but guys heres the thing about it all none of us are perfect..and as well we all need Jesus..and as far as sin the Lord doesn’t place it in categories as we do..in the Lords eyes it’s all the same..Matthew 5:21-28..but we should not have anything be an addiction to us in our lives..for we all should be free from whatever it is that is holding us..you know that something that we say oh no I can’t do without..I know yesterday this lady tells me I  carry my water bottle everywhere with me..and she works in the hospital..and she says I about lost my mind today..because in the midst of taking patients to their rooms I sit my water bottle down and couldn’t find it..and I panicked..and I was thinking man all over a water bottle..but see anything can become so addictive to us and our lives..for me I know all to well that I need to work on my coffee habit..and as well I know that at night I always chew a piece of gum before I go to bed..sounds crazy maybe but it is a habit to me..and I might as well say an addiction to me..but as well I always eat a bowl of cereal before bed..and I don’t know if I would even be able to rest without having a bowl at night..because it has become so much of a habit to me and my life..but you see we can make a whole lot of things become addictions..for these things begin to be compulsive to us and they are very much habit forming..and we will feel as if we need certain things..and the case as to where it’s bad is when it alters us from who we are..when we get mad and angry about the thing or things when we don’t have them..when we feel that we won’t make it or life just isn’t the same without whatever it is that were addicted to in our lives..I always think about this story about a mom who’s son was addicted to drugs and she would pray for him constantly to just quit..to her she couldn’t understand why he just wouldn’t stop using..so one night at church the preacher was preaching about fasting..and prayer and that sometimes that is the only way to have certain freedom for certain things in our lives..Mark 9:29..so the momma went to that alter and she prayed and told the Lord that she would give up her sweets if the Lord would set her son free from the disease and addiction to drugs..so she made the Lord a promise that she would not eat any sweets that would she would fast them for her son..and so she was doing well even at work and being around many who would have pies and donuts daily brought in to work with them..she would pass right by them and never question it..until a few months went by and her daughter was going to be getting married and of course the daughter wanted her mom to come cake tasting with her..and so the mom agrees and they go together and so the daughter kept persisting to the mom please would you try some with me so we can decide on which one to choose..and the mom kept telling the daughter, honey you know that I am fasting these sweets for your brother..and so the daughter says yes mom I know you are but just a little bit won’t hurt ya..so the mom agrees to try a few samples with her daughter..she thought well it is going to be for her wedding..and so she grabs a little piece of cake and places it in her mouth..and as soon as she did the Lord says now you understand how your son feels..for you see addiction comes in many forms..for the son it was drugs..for the mom is was sweets..but either way they both were addicted to something..the same goes with us..I pray we all have so much compassion towards others..and for others..when we see the problems in their lives that they may be fighting and daily so..and that we all learn to pray for them..and that we learn to pray for one another..because each of us have something..the devil always places things and temptations in our way..to try to distract us..and to have us need things..or substances more so then we need or desire the Lord..but each of us know who we are and what we need to work on in our lives..and I will say that only God and through much prayer brings change and healing to all of our lives..so instead of judging someone else..in which case we shouldn’t be but we all do..how about we look in the mirror at ourselves..and ask God to change us and to show us the ere of our ways..for when we get better with who we are..we get better with others..and we do better with others..and that is the goal for us all..and that is to live in the light of the Lord..always shining His grace and His glory to all..once again..loving all and not merely few..for love is where it’s at in all of our lives..and love is that thing that covers a multitude of sins..1 Peter 4:8..and when we love we are never more like our Lord and Savior..so let us love..and let us live our lives for one another..but more anything let us live our lives for Jesus..walking and abiding in His anointing and in His power..for it is the anointing of God that breaks the yoke of bondage and sets the captives free..Isaiah 10:27..so let us all strife for Gods freedom..in every area of our lives..for whom the Son sets free is free indeed..John 8:36..so let us live in that freedom..always and forever..In Jesus’ name, I do
