“Alarm!”

This morning as I woke up, one of the smoke alarms in my house was peeping. I started trying to figure out where in the world the sound was coming from. Needless to say, I eventually found it—and, of course, it needed a battery change. Amen.

But as I thought about that alarm, I couldn’t help but think about us and how the Lord is always prompting and correcting us in one way or another concerning the things in our lives that need to be fixed. Just like that alarm, the Holy Spirit gives us little nudges—little “peeps,” if you will—to get our attention. But so often, we overlook or disregard them.

We pray and seek the Lord’s face, asking for change in our lives, but when God begins revealing things that need improvement—when He starts correcting us—we often receive it for a moment and then go right back to the same old habits. We convince ourselves that “this time will be different,” but let’s be honest: if we keep doing the same things, we will keep getting the same results.

You cannot expect to grow if you’re not being obedient to the Lord. When He’s “peeping” at you—showing you something—and you ignore it or justify your actions, you become desensitized. Eventually, you may not even hear His correction anymore. The Bible warns us about becoming reprobate—when our hearts grow dull to the things of God.

I often compare it to living near a train track: at first, every time a train goes by, it’s loud and startling. But after a while, you get used to it—you stop noticing it altogether. The same thing can happen with the Lord’s voice. When we continually ignore His correction and the nudging of the Holy Spirit, we become less sensitive to His leading.

But remember—Jesus said in John 16:7, “It is expedient that I go to the Father, for I will send you the Helper, the Holy Spirit.” Amen. The Holy Spirit is here to guide and help us.

Life isn’t easy. Change isn’t easy. Renewing your mind isn’t easy (Romans 12:2). Doing things differently takes work and growth—but that growth is what makes us better: better for ourselves, for our families, for our friends, and most importantly, for the Lord to use us here on this earth.

We can’t live like the world and expect to change the world. We are called to be set apart (Psalm 4:3), to be holy and righteous (1 Peter 1:15–16; Revelation 22:11). We are called to be the salt and the light (Matthew 5:13–16), to share the Gospel, to shine His light, and to be obedient to our Lord and Savior. When we are not obedient, we suffer the consequences of a disobedient heart.

So this morning, I pray for strength for us all—that we would be hearers of the Word and doers of the Word. That when God speaks, we would listen immediately and follow through with what He asks of us. I pray that we won’t just keep “peeping”—living in stress and anxiety because we refuse to obey what the Lord has already spoken—but that we would act on His Word.

When we know what we need to do, may we do it—so that we can move on to the next level, the next task, the next mission our Father has for us in heaven. Amen.

This life is all about Him—doing His will and letting His way be done in us. For His way is better. As the song says:
“Oh Lord, I need You now more than ever. Won’t You put my heart back together? I searched the world till my head hurt—just to find out Your way is better.” Amen.

So, pay attention to the alarms in your life—whatever they may be—and change that “battery” by being obedient, listening, and following through with what God is speaking. Amen!”

“For it is in His name, Jesus’ name, that I do ask and pray..Amen and Amen..Be blessed today my dear sweet friends and remember wherever you go and whatever you do, Be a light for our Father, Much love to you all, Mandi ❤️
