“Identity?”

We all have a particular identity.
We each carry characteristics and personalities that make us who we are. There are unique aspects within each of us that set us apart from others. Amen.

So… what is identity?
According to Webster’s Dictionary, identity is “the distinguishing character or personality of an individual.”

This morning, I just want to speak to each of us about our identity. Who are we? Who are you?
What is it that makes your character different from others?
What about your personality stands out from the crowd?
What do others see in you that maybe—you haven’t even noticed in yourself? Amen.

How do you identify who you are, to yourself?
What are the thoughts you speak in your mind that no one else hears?
What do you do that makes you who you are?

Because here’s the truth:
Most of us live out our identity through the lens of our past. Amen.
When we speak to others, we often filter it through what we’ve been through—and in doing so, we give them a glimpse of who we were, not who we are now.
We relive the pain, the loss, the trauma:
– the spouse we lost,
– the childhood we endured,
– the marriage that ended,
– the abuse that marked us…

And when we speak, those are the things that flow from our hearts. So in that way, we reveal how we’ve been identifying ourselves. But here’s the key: that’s not who we are today.

Yes, life can bring deep valleys—and if we haven’t faced hardship yet, chances are we will at some point. Amen.
But even in the midst of it, we are not defined by our past.

Because God gives us new beginnings every single day.
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”Lamentations 3:22-23
Amen.

We must learn to turn the page. Let it go. Move forward.

If we’ve made it through it, then we’ve gained strength through the Lord.
Ask Him to give you a new day, a new mind, a new perspective—because we are not our past. We are not our mistakes. We are so much more than that.

Each of us has a calling.
Each of us has gifts—divinely given by our Father—to be used for His glory.
But if we sit down and constantly rehearse the hurt, the pain, the disappointments, the betrayals…
Then we will stay stuck—stuck identifying with who we were, not who we are now.
And you know what? We are no longer that person.

God has made us new creatures in Him.
And daily, we grow and change.
Yes, we go through things, but those things do not define who we are.

The enemy wants us stuck.
He wants us to dwell on what was said, who said it, what they did, what they didn’t do.
He wants us to feel sorry for ourselves.
He whispers, “What’s wrong with me?”
He wants us to say, “Woe is me.”
Amen.

But that mindset is not from God. That’s not His purpose for us.
We are meant to go through it, get up, and move forward—casting off the weight, not carrying it day after day.

This is a new day!
So I’m asking and praying that we all make the decision to let the past go. Let yesterday go.
Put one foot in front of the other and choose joy.
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”Psalm 118:24
Amen.

So—
Go bake a cake.
Cook a nice dinner.
See a movie.
Visit a friend.
Walk around the mall.
Amen.

Get up.
Get dressed.
Show up.
And make a difference.

Go be a blessing.
Be a help.
Be a friend.
Encourage someone.
Amen.

The quickest way to get out of our own heads is to go bless someone else.
Be a light.
Focus on someone else’s needs, and watch how God moves in your own life. Praise the Lord.

So, who we are—who we should be identifying as—is children of the Most High God.
And Jesus Christ is His name. Amen.

Our identity is found in Him, and in Him alone.
For He lives in us.

So let us not quench the Spirit that lives within us—but instead, let us shine and identify as Christ—the living, breathing Lord who dwells within us.
“This is how we know that we live in Him and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit.”1 John 4:13
Amen.

He walks with us.
He speaks through us.
So go forth and be a blessing—in all the ways that you, my friend, have been uniquely equipped to do.
Whatever your gift, use it for His glory.

Let the old man fall by the wayside.
Renew your mind.
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”Romans 12:2

Take yourself to a whole new level in the Lord. Amen.

Because life is too short to live in unhappiness—day in and day out—just because of our own mindset or perception of who we are.

So rise up, child of God.
Walk in your true identity.
And live this day—on purpose. Amen!”

“For it is in His name, Jesus’ name, that I do ask and pray..Amen and Amen..Be blessed today my dear sweet friends and remember wherever you go and whatever you do, Be a light for our Father, Much love to you all, Mandi ❤️
