One of the biggest questions many people wrestle with in life is the idea of rating sin. Amen.
What’s right? What’s wrong? What can we do, and what can’t we do? Amen. Everyone seems to have a slightly different view—shaped by how we were raised, where we live, how we grew up, and even what type of church we first attended when we began to follow Jesus and made Him Lord over our lives. Amen.
But here’s the truth: sin isn’t easily placed into categories—like “this one is worse” and “that one is okay.” The Word tells us clearly that if we speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven—but if we blaspheme the Holy Ghost, it will never be forgiven, not in this world or the one to come (Matthew 12:32). Let’s take a moment and really think about that. Amen.
So, what is blasphemy? It’s speaking irreverently about God or the things of God—through cursing, mocking, or disrespecting what is sacred. Amen.
Sin is everywhere, and we are all born into it. We are sinful people living in a world full of temptation. It’s a daily battle between good and evil. Amen. It’s a struggle of the mind and of the heart. Even our thoughts can be sinful—and though we may never act on them, God knows them. Amen.
The Word says, if a man looks upon a woman to lust after her, he has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:28). Amen. So how can any of us rate sin—as if doing this or that keeps us in the clear? Our thoughts get us into trouble. Our attitudes get us into trouble. The way we treat others, the way we gossip, the way we judge—these things lead us into sin. Amen.
But how does society rate sin? They point fingers at people who drink, smoke, do drugs, gamble, live together outside of marriage, or sleep around. Society condemns the thief, the liar, the person who refuses to forgive, the selfish person, the gossip, the one who shuts out compassion. Amen. The one who doesn’t help the poor, who’s always critical, always fighting, always causing division. Amen.
And yet, the truth is—sin is not just those visible acts. Sin is also in the hidden places of the heart. And none of us are without it. Amen. We all sin. We all fall short. If we say we are without sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8). All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Amen.
But here’s the good news: just because we fall doesn’t mean we are thrown away. It doesn’t mean God stops hearing us or wanting us. Absolutely not! Amen.
When we sin, we are called to confess it, ask for forgiveness, get up, and keep moving forward. Amen.
God says that on two great commandments hang all the law:
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart.
- Love your neighbor as yourself. Amen.
By this shall all men know that you are my disciples—if you have love one for another (John 13:35). Amen. Because love covers a multitude of sins. Amen. Love offers grace—abundantly—to everyone. When we recognize that we are all sinners saved by grace, it humbles us. None of us are perfect, but together we can live better—this side of heaven. Amen.
Let’s stop looking at the speck in our brother’s eye while ignoring the beam in our own. First remove the beam from your eye, and then you will see clearly to help your brother (Matthew 7:3-5). Amen.
So again, let’s not try to rate sin or elevate ourselves by saying, “At least I’m not like them.” Amen. Just because you don’t act the way someone else does—or because you never miss a church service—doesn’t mean you’re perfect. So, what do you do? Can you really say you don’t sin?
We all need Jesus.
We all need grace.
We all need love—daily. Amen.
I believe we all live somewhere in the middle, walking that line between good and evil. So let’s choose wisely. Live well. Love deeply. And let go of trying to rank sin—because we’re not the Judge. That role belongs to Christ, and Christ alone. Amen.
There is only One who is worthy to open the Lamb’s Book of Life, and His name is Jesus Christ, our Lord (Revelation 5:1-6). Amen!”
“For it is in His name, Jesus’ name, that I do ask and pray..Amen and Amen..Be blessed today my dear sweet friends and remember wherever you go and whatever you do, Be a light for our Father, Much love to you all, Mandi ❤️
