Yesterday evening, we ordered pizza for dinner. The delivery lady arrived in a gentle mist and went out of her way to be thoughtful. She took paper towels from her car and carefully placed them on our sidewalk before setting the pizza on top. Watching her on our security cameras, I was reminded of the scripture: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward” (Colossians 3:23–24).
As I continued reading that chapter, it spoke to all of us:
- “Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord” (3:18).
- “Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them” (3:19).
- “Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged” (3:21).
- “Servants, obey your earthly masters in everything, not by way of eye-service as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord” (3:22).
Ultimately, it calls every one of us to live in such a way that whatever we do, we do it wholeheartedly, as unto the Lord.
I’ve noticed that when I adopt this mindset—doing everything for the Lord—my day goes better. I feel happier and more joyful, no matter what I’m doing or how much I want to do it. I’m simply grateful to have the opportunity to serve and represent my Father.
We are often the only Bible people will ever read. If we do the same as everyone else, there’s no real difference. But when we live for God, we become salt and light, drawing others to Him. As (Matthew 5:13–16) reminds us, “You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world… Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Perhaps you’re at a job you don’t love or in a situation where you feel stuck. I want to encourage you: whatever you’re doing right now, do it with the mindset, “I’m doing this for the Lord—my Father.” This perspective transforms your thinking and your heart. It fills you with joy, making you a radiant light in your environment. And remember a little light drives out much darkness. Amen!
So go forth, shine brightly, serve faithfully, and live to please the One Audience that truly matters—our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
“For it is in His name, Jesus’ name, that I do ask and pray..Amen and Amen..Be blessed today my dear sweet friends and remember wherever you go and whatever you do, Be a light for our Father, Much love to you all, Mandi ❤️
