Where does winning truly begin in our lives? For me, it starts when my body, mind, and spirit are aligned—when I’m okay with myself, at peace with my life, and able to lay my head down and truly rest at night. When I can engage with difficult people gracefully. When I stay joyful and content even amid chaos. When I refuse to let life move me backward—because as Jesus says in Luke 9:62, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Life isn’t meant to be a burden. If we neglect or mistreat ourselves, we suffer—even more so when we try to barrel through life relying on sheer willpower. True freedom begins within. That’s when we take our brokenness, hand it over to the Lord, walk through healing with His help, believe His promises, and obey His Word. It’s one thing to call ourselves children of God—it’s another to live it out. If we stay immersed in self, that’s exactly how we live: full of drama, strife, depression, fear, anxiety, regret, and self-pity—losing the joy and healing that God has provided, and letting our days slip away.
The Word teaches us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19–20) and that we are not to rely on our own wisdom, but to fear the Lord and shun evil, which brings health and vitality (Proverbs 3:7–8). We are not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, to present our requests to God. Then His peace—beyond all comprehension—will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6–7). We are told to come to Him when weary and burdened, and He will give us rest. Take His yoke upon us and learn from Him, for He is gentle and humble in heart, and we will find rest for our souls (Matthew 11:28–30).
I pray we learn to cast all our anxieties on Him, because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). When we do this, our physical, mental, and spiritual health will flourish. Nothing in this world—no person, thing, food, drink, medicine, or vacation—can truly fill or transform us like the Lord can. It’s in our time alone with Him, feeding on His daily manna, that we receive all we need. Without Him, we can do nothing—but with Him, we can do all things because He strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).
So, take care of yourself. Guard your heart, mind, spirit, soul, and sanity. Stay joyful and happy—for that is true winning, true excellence, and true thriving in life. Hallelujah!
