This morning as I was cleaning out my phone and deleting things I no longer needed, I began thinking about God’s grace and His forgiveness. He offers this to each of us. As I was cleaning, I paused to make sure I didn’t need any of those things before I deleted them because once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. It made me reflect on how God does the same with our sins. When we confess them, He cleanses us completely. The Bible says that the Lord is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins (1 John 1:9), and that’s something to praise Him for! Amen!
But here’s where I struggle—I have a hard time forgiving myself. Even when I do or say things I regret, I tend to bring those things before the Lord again and again, asking for forgiveness. Yet, God’s Word tells us He casts our sins as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12), and He promises never to bring them up again (Isaiah 43:25). How incredible is that?
Sometimes we picture God like people in our lives—someone who might keep count, bring up our past, or not fully forgive us. But God isn’t like that. I pray we understand that He is different. We need to forgive ourselves and move on. If we’ve genuinely repented and turned away from sin, we are truly forgiven. So let go of the doubt, shake off the guilt, and embrace God’s grace and forgiveness. We can’t hold onto our past or the person we used to be because our past is gone. We’ve been made new.
We’re no longer who we once were, and we should never desire to be. We are new creations in Christ, bought with a great price. Let’s walk in this newness. Let go of the sins that have been forgiven. We are free to live in that forgiveness. We aren’t perfect, but God desires that we do our best and follow His words: “Go and sin no more” (John 8:11).
Though our sins were many, they have been washed away, whiter than snow (Psalm 51:7).
So, walk confidently in who you are in Christ. Remember, Jesus is not an accuser of the brethren. It’s the enemy of our souls who brings up our past and our failures
(Revelation 12:9-11). But whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). So be free, be forgiven, and live your best life. Amen!
For it is in His name, Jesus’ name, that I do ask and pray, Amen and Amen.
Be blessed today, dear friends, and remember wherever you go, and whatever you do, Be a light for our Father. Much love to you all, Mandi
