“I know that your name speaks volumes. Just the mention of your name brings to mind some aspect of who you are. When someone mentions you, people automatically think of something related to you, whether it is good or bad. Everyone has an image of a person, whether they work at a bank or in the mines, whether they exercise or choose not to. Whatever it is, people associate something with you. Amen.
As for Erik and me, while raising our son, we always told him, ‘Son, your name means more than anything. When people trust and rely on you, it means a whole lot. Amen! We can have everything, but if we fail to maintain our good name, then we’ve pretty much failed because people remember you for who you are. They remember how you were, regardless of whether it was good or bad. People remember.’
I recall my dad’s last sermon; his message was that, years ago, all a man had to do was shake another man’s hand, and that settled it. There were no contracts to sign or long forms to fill out; they just knew that if you shook hands, you meant what you said and that you would keep your promise. Integrity means so much. Amen!
I pray that when others look at me and my family, they see people they can trust, people who love the Lord our God with all our hearts. The Word says, ‘A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold’ (Proverbs 22:1). So today and every day that follows, try your best to live your life with a good name. Don’t have people second-guess who you are.
If you’ve failed and fallen short in your past or even today, know that you can begin now to be real and honest with the person God has made you to be. Who you are and what you do speaks volumes about who you love and whom you serve, which is Jesus Christ our Lord. When God is in us, we change. We change for the better and strive to be better than we were yesterday or even today.
Let us live to please the Lord with all that is within us. Let us live by the Golden Rule: ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’ We are all in this thing called life together, and when we rise up to help one another and treat each other with respect and love, we all win. That is the key to great and noble victories in all our lives.
So be the best you can be for our Lord, always living as He desires for you to live. It is in His name, Jesus’ name, that I ask and pray. Amen and Amen. Be blessed today, my dear sweet friends. Remember, wherever you go and whatever you do, be a light for our Father. Much love to you all. Mandi
