We throw around the word “love” all the time. We say we love everything—really. We love our home, we love our dog, we love our cat, we love our fish, we love our cars, we love our jobs, and of course, we love food and dessert. We love songs, music, TV, sports, and shopping. On and on, we all can go. But really, is love honestly taken into much consideration? Do we even think about the real meaning behind the word “love”?
Because love is the thing that makes everything worthwhile. Love is an action word. We may like a lot of things, but do we really love them? Because love steps up to the plate when hard times come, when difficulties surround us. Love is what makes you hold on, what makes you forgive and helps you to forget. Love is what softens hearts and minds. Love is the most precious thing we can ever give another person in our lives. Love isn’t a word we should use carelessly. We should think about it and think about just how much we use it.
Because you see, God is love (1 John 4:7-21). Our Father is love, that wonderful and delightful love. Praise the Lord! When we love Him, we can love others. For the Lord says, “These two commandments I hang all the law on: to love the Lord your God with all your heart and to love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:36-40). When you love, you don’t talk negatively about the people you love. You don’t backbite them or ever put them down—not ever. The one thing that really helps me is wanting to treat others the way I want to be treated. We are all human, and we all need love to make it, to grow, to mature, to have peace and joy to the overflow.
So, my heart and my prayer is that when we say we love things, we are really saying we love people, not things or places or whatever. Because somehow, I think that’s why we take that word so lightly. We say it carelessly and very often. Let us all love from the heart and love everyone, not just a few. Knowing that we are all made in the image of the Lord, let us be kind, nice, compassionate, and be the change we want to see in this world. Share and spread God’s love to everyone and anyone. For God says, “Others will know that you are my disciples if you love one another” (John 13:35).
There is a song that says, “The world will never hear our preaching if we stand here disagreeing. It’s by love, it’s by love.” Everything we do, it’s by love. In Jesus’ name, I ask and pray. Amen and Amen. Be blessed today, my dear sweet friends, and remember, wherever you go and whatever you do, be a light for our Father. Much love to you all, Mandi.
