So a few years back I remember these two birds trying their best to build a nest under the awning of our side porch. Despite their efforts, they fail each time because there isn’t enough room for the nest. However, these little birds couldn’t care less. Day in and day out, they gather straw, hay, grass, mud, and whatever else they can find to build their nest. Every afternoon, I would go out and clean up the mess they’ve made, which is quite a lot. It’s honestly very funny how persistent these little ones are. Amen!
But while cleaning up after those birds and witnessing their relentless attempts to build a home, I can’t help but be in awe of their determination. That makes me reflect on our own lives and homes. Just as these birds work tirelessly to build their nest, we also work daily to build our homes and lives through the choices and decisions we make. Our homes, both physical and spiritual, are the most important things in this life.
A well-rounded home life is a beautiful thing. We work on our homes daily, striving to create a good environment for ourselves. If we are not right within ourselves, we can never be right with others. It is crucial to work on our inner selves, which can often be a messy job. Amen!
Sometimes, it gets truly messy when the Lord starts digging up deep-rooted issues in our hearts. He shows us areas where we need to grow and mature, removing things that are no longer needed. This process can be difficult, making us want to give up or get angry. However, we never truly arrive at a place where we no longer need to grow. We live in a fallen world, and the Lord keeps us seeking Him, keeping Him first in our lives.
Ephesians 4:23 tells us to be renewed in the spirit of our minds. Romans 6:6-23 reminds us to put off the old man and his ways, to be renewed, and to become servants yielding His fruit in our lives, avoiding sinful ways. Christ has redeemed us, and the wages of sin is death. Amen!
So, let us all be like those little birds building their nest. Never quit or back away. Hold on through growth, mess, trials, hardships, toil, and turmoil. Stay focused and get through the process daily until the Lord calls us home. Life here is but a moment, but heaven is eternal. On that day, we will see Him as He is, and we shall be like Him (1 John 3:2). What a day that will be! Amen.
Keep building your life and home, even if it doesn’t come together as expected. In His name, Jesus’ name, I ask and pray. Amen and Amen. Be blessed today, my dear sweet friends, and remember, wherever you go and whatever you do, be a light for our Father. Much love to you all.
