“Love wins!”

Why Is It So Hard for People to Truly Love?

It often seems that in our society, truly loving others is rare. We may say we love, but do we genuinely treat people as Christ would? Do we selflessly give of ourselves and show love to everyone we encounter? There are different types of love in our lives, but I’m talking about the kind of love God commands us to give. In John 13:34-35, Jesus says, “A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another; as I have loved you. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one towards another.” Why this new commandment? Perhaps because when we love, we are most like our Lord, who loves us all. Or maybe it’s because love covers a multitude of sins, as stated in 1 Peter 4:8.

When you truly and honestly love someone, you honor, respect, watch out for, and protect them—no matter the cost. It is easy to love those who love us, but the Bible says there is no reward in that, for even the Pharisees did that (Matthew 5:46). When we love everybody and live to please Christ Jesus, we reflect God’s love, as He loves us all. 1 John 4:7-21 reminds us that God is love. Loving each person made in God’s image is crucial because He sent His only Son to die for all mankind (Romans 10:13).

If we can’t love the unlovable with agape love, we will never spread the gospel as intended. We are here to give others Jesus, not for ourselves. We must follow God’s word and be obedient, focusing on Jesus and His purpose. Let’s stop the drama, strife, and fake love. Let’s be real with who we are and who the Lord is, striving to please Him in everything—what we say, do, and how we act. Love should wash over everything concerning us because it is the greatest witness. Love wins, prevails, and is the greatest thing above anything else in our lives (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). If we have love, we have everything we need. So, give and show love, letting it flow from you like nothing else. Love alone is where it’s at.

Let us love everyone in Jesus’ name. Amen and Amen. Be blessed today, dear friends, and remember, wherever you go and whatever you do, be a light for our Father. Much love to you all, Mandi
